Telematics Start up in Dubai
UAE, Dubai
Whereabout was commissioned to establish a Telematics start-up Company in Dubai. From a blank sheet of paper, we quickly developed commercial relationships in the local market, building a solid new business pipeline through promoting the Company’s technology advantages. This culminated in winning the Pilot Asset management tracking project with Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport.

Field Testing Consultancy project in Southern Africa
With a pedigree in location-based services and digital mapping solutions, Whereabout has been asked to contribute in a number of projects, which have required GIS (geographic information system) specialism. One such project was an assignment where we were commissioned to test three different digital mapping vendors in the region of South Africa and Botswana. Using our expertise in this sector, combined with a detailed understanding of the client’s specific application requirements, Whereabout was able to quickly come to a client recommendation on the basis of accuracy, content and detail.

New on-demand Insurance business

Whereabout is currently working on a project to launch a new on-demand Insurance business in Europe. Our technology client has developed an app-based solution to enable mileage or term-based insurance, supporting ‘smart’ customer propositions that accurately reflect driver’s lifestyle and usage.
We have built a go-to-market approach that has identified the different characteristics of the European insurance market and created launch strategies which take into account technology, regulatory environments and customer attitudes towards privacy and insurance demand. In this project, we have built a strong business pipeline, building successful partner relationships and are about to oversee the imminent launch of services in a number of European countries.

Vehicle automation and V2X vehicle communication
Whereabout is currently working for a European technology start-up which has developed and fully tested end-to-end V2X software to enable the latest smart city deployments and autonomous vehicle functions.
The integrated software supports all functions relating to V2X connectivity, security and applications, and includes software for vehicle on-board units (OBU), road-side units (RSU) and server (cloud) infrastructure built to ETSI compliant standards for ITS-G5 and C-V2X communication.
We have been commissioned to manage our client's launch of this European service, forming successful commercial partnerships amongst vehicle manufacturers, Tier 1, V2X hardware and traffic infrastructure suppliers in order to build connected solutions to make driving safer, while reducing congestion and lowering emissions.
